Becoming Catholic

A Journey of Faith

OCIA welcomes non-Catholic family members, friends, neighbors, and colleagues — as well as baptized Catholics seeking to deepen their faith — into full communion with the Catholic Church.

Who Is OCIA For?
Catechumens

Adults who have never been baptized and desire to receive all three Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.

Candidates

Baptized Christians from other traditions seeking full communion with the Catholic Church through Confirmation and Eucharist. Bring a copy of your baptism certificate.

Sponsors

Every participant is accompanied by a sponsor — a practicing Catholic in good standing who prays with and supports the candidate throughout the year, attending meetings and ceremonies together.
