Planning Your Wedding

First Steps

1. Call the Parish Center at (703) 978-4141 to meet with a priest and reserve your date.
2. Complete the Wedding Survey provided by the office.
3. Contact the Wedding Coordinator at weddings@stmaryofsorrows.org.

Venues

Music

• All music must be approved by Director of Sacred Music, Allen Blehl (allenb@stmaryofsorrows.org)
• Pre-recorded music is not permitted
• Outside musicians require Director approval
• Music selections must be finalized one month before the ceremony
• Music Director fee: $250 · Cantor fee: $200

Photography & Videography

• Flash photography is not permitted during the ceremony
• 20 minutes allowed inside the church after the ceremony for photos
• No auxiliary lighting, umbrellas, or stands permitted
• Photographers must check in with the Wedding Coordinator upon arrival

What Is Not Permitted

• Rice, rose petals, birdseed, or balloons
• Bubbles (indoors or outdoors)
• Aisle runners
• Receiving lines inside the church
• Alcohol on church grounds

Rehearsal

Rehearsal is held the day before the wedding, limited to 45 minutes. Please arrive 15 minutes early.

Fees

All fees are due one week before the wedding.

Marriage License

Obtain your marriage license from the Fairfax County Judicial Center and bring it to the Parish Center at least one month before the ceremony.
